Where once it was a working men’s club, as the local farming demographic inevitably changed, it is today now more a community hub where many varied events are held for both members and their guests and sometimes to the general public too, for example, our annual Beer festival. 

In the 1950’s, the main sales were for ales, served from casks with wet sacks draped over them to keep them cool, a far cry from todays standards where we now have a dedicated, temperature controlled cellar area. 

During the 1980’s the club expanded its size to give more internal space and the luxury of indoor toilets too. This was effected by the club being tied to Mssrs. Charringtons, a major UK brewing company who helped finance the work in return for the clubs purchase of their products. Such a facility was common enough in the day and many other working mens clubs used this arrangement to expand their business, rather than use a bank-loan.

The clubs fortunes prospered during that time and remained that way until the mid 2000’s when sales and incomes slowed for a manner of reasons, which meant that the management team had no option but to take over the running of the club themselves, using unpaid volunteers and this policy is still in practice today.

Nevertheless, as its revenue stream settled down and grew once again, the management policies of constant improvement by way of various upgrading and investment in modern equipment has today made the club an attractive facility for the village, providing members a welcoming and warm, friendly atmosphere.

One of our policies is to only purchase our range of real-ales from local, independent micro-breweries, for example,  Goachers and the Tonbridge Brewery. This enables us to offer an excellent choice of ales, together with a good range of bottled lagers, ales, wines, spirits and soft/non-alcoholic beverages, at club prices that are generally considerably cheaper than a public house.

Note:  Most of our real ales sold are now GLUTEN FREE. 

Being a members-only establishment, our policy is to provide continual upgrades to give our members the best possible facilities that we can. Recent improvements have seen a new kitchen created;  our cellar updated with new cooling and gas supply equipment, new hand-pull beer pumps installed on the bar; a new toilet block, to include dedicated disabled facility; a new oil-fired heating system; an 85″ wide-screen tv & sound system used to screen films on our ‘Film Night’ event and various sports, etc. via terrestial TV stations and our latest improvement in the autumn  of 2024 was a new Quartz bar top throughout the bar area, and improved seating for more guest comfort.

Our regular weekly events include our ‘Gents Beer night’ which is held on the 1st Wednesday of each month; ‘Book Group’ which is held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month; ‘Needles and Natter’ which is held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month and the ‘Hunton Ladies’ on the 4th Wednesday of each month.
